Things are changing fast these days. The approach to corporate website design is no exception.
In this context, it became clear that our website was no longer in line with today’s conventions, and that we had to take matters into our own hands: the project to design a new website was launched.
This in-house project took a long time to complete. We had to design a website that was not only modern, but also adapted to the needs of our customers. Hence the numerous team discussions until the final product met all the criteria. In particular, at a certain point in the project, we realized that our customers in each country have their own specific needs. It was therefore best to ensure that the website met these needs. That is why we decided to create four similar websites, but tailored to each nation:

- For Swiss: planethoster.ch/en.
- For Canadians: planethoster.ca/en.
- For other countries: planethoster.com/en.
As an example, if your IP address is in France and you choose planethoster.fr/en, the currencies displayed on the site will be in euros.

Infrastructure

Activating Our 100GE Port at TorIX
In September 2024, we activated our 100 gigabit ethernet (100 GE) port at the Toronto Internet Exchange (TorIX). This is great news, as it will enable our customers to access the Toronto (and GTA) networks much faster. The link between Montreal and Toronto using our Wavelenght fiber offers a latency of less than 7.2 ms.
TorIX is Canada’s leading Internet exchange point, and one of the largest in the world. Using TorIX enables reliable local traffic exchange with greater routing control and improved performance, at reduced costs. With over 250 organizations connected, TorIX peers have access to direct routes from numerous partners.
Prevention of DDoS or Attacks Attempting to Compromise Targeted Networks
Just recently, the Canadian Centre for Security relayed a bulletin advising that cyberthreat authors linked to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) had compromised Internet-connected devices by creating a botnet. Threat authors can use the botnet as a proxy to disguise their identities when conducting Distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or attempting to compromise the networks they target in the USA.
Armed with this information, exposed vendors, owners and operators are encouraged to update and secure their devices to prevent them from being compromised and added to this botnet.
As a preventive measure against problems of this kind, PlanetHoster continues to increase its network and anti-DDoS capacities. Several new 100 GE links have also been added.
Using Node.js Software Infrastructures on N0C
It can sometimes be useful to deploy a Node.js application on the N0C platform using a Javascript framework such as Nuxt.js, AngularJS, Express.js or Next.js.

Premium Disk Space on The World Web Hosting Platform
PlanetHoster has introduced premium disk space, the primary storage on The World web hosting platform, to offer customers better quality of service and improved management of their network of websites. NDDCamp
PlanetHoster supports NDDCamp, a series of conferences and workshops dedicated to key domain name topics. Indeed, these initiatives reflect our dedication not only to domain name registration, but also to contributing to the information and communication technology community.
As planned, we were present in Paris on September 13, 2024. We will also be there for the next edition in Strasbourg, on March 21, 2025.
JoomlaDay
As an annual event, JoomalDay is an opportunity for users in the French Joomla! community to meet, exchange ideas and discover the latest trends in web development and design.
This year, JoomalDay takes place on October 18 and 19 in Metz, France. We will be there!
Events in Belgium
FOSDEM
FOSDEM is a free event where software developers can meet, exchange ideas and collaborate.
Every year, thousands of open source developers from all over the world gather in Brussels. An interesting feature of this event is that there is no need to register, as all you have to do is turn up and take part!
PlanetHoster will be present at FOSDEM 2025, just as we were in 2024.
Config Management Camp
Another Belgian event, this one in Ghent, caught our attention. It was the Config Management Camp, held this year from February 5 to 7, 2024.
This event is designed for technologists interested in open source infrastructure automation and related topics. This includes, among other things: open source configuration management, IT service allocation (provisioning), orchestration, choreography, container operations, and many other topics.
We will be keeping an eye out for the 2025 edition, which will take place from February 3 to 5.
Events in Canada
New Partnership with Collège de Bois-de-Boulogne
Always keen to give back to the community and foster innovation, PlanetHoster’s management team has decided to partner with Collège de Bois-de-Boulogne (Bois-de-Boulogne College) for the continuing education of students in the Stratégies et animations de réseaux sociaux (Social networking strategies and activities) program.
The agreement includes a $6,000 scholarship program over the next three years. It also leads to the creation of the PlanetHoster Innovation Lab within the College’s Agora numérique (digital agora) — a space dedicated to innovation and the development of advanced digital skills, which will enable the student community to benefit from mentoring and coaching activities offered by our experts. Moreover, the agreement includes access to PlanetHoster’s latest technological innovations, including the N0C platform.

Wordcamp Ottawa
From July 11 to 13, one of our developers took part in WordCamp Canada 2024.
On this occasion, he exchanged with experts and developers on site, and had the chance to contribute with the WordPress core team. He was also able to learn about the latest WordPress trends and best practices.
Hackfest
This year’s Hackfest annual conference takes place in Quebec City in October 2024. PlanetHoster is one of the sponsors.
Hackfest was created to raise public and corporate awareness of computer security prevention. Each year, a conference is organized for this purpose. Vision PDG is organized by the Quebec Technology Association (Association québécoise des technologies). Donations and Support to CFP des riverains
The Centre de formation professionnelle des Riverains offers a variety of study programs, including computer support. PlanetHoster makes donations to support this professional training center.
To kick off the new school year, PlanetHoster took part in the Camp info-découverte. We had the chance to run an SEO workshop with some really talented young people, and it was a rewarding experience for all of us.

It will soon be possible to install Strapi on your The World hosting with PlanetHoster.
Strapi is a headless CMS, which means you can create a customizable back-end application that generates an API for you. Then, you are free to use the framework of your choice and call on this API to display the content on your website.
As a prerequisite, you will need to have your Strapi project up and running locally. It is advisable to have a The World with at least the following resources: 4 CPU, 4 MEM and 8 MB/s IO.
