Q2-2025 — PlanetHoster Never Does Too Much To Support People

Several events took place during the last quarter.

In particular, we partnered with Atypikoo for the #JAMAISTROP awareness campaign. This campaign aims to empower those who are considered “too much” (too sensitive, too intense, too different, etc.) by giving them visible and well-deserved recognition.

At PlanetHoster, we never do “too much” when it comes to valuing every human being: our customers and employees can attest to that. A concrete example of this is our accessibility feedback process.

In this second blog post of 2025, we will cover the following topics:

Q2-2025 — PlanetHoster Never Does Too Much To Support People.

Community Projects Supported by PlanetHoster Customers

The projects we launch to help communities are funded by our customers, because the prosperity of our company depends on their loyalty. We cannot thank them enough.

PlanetHoster Partners with Atypikoo for the #JAMAISTROP Awareness Campaign

Extremes create balance.

For several years now, PlanetHoster has been proud to host Atypikoo. Today, this partnership is taking on a new dimension: joining forces to send a powerful message in the public sphere, valuing those who are considered “too much” — too sensitive, too intense, too different.

The #JAMAISTROP awareness campaign aims to give these people the recognition they deserve. This takes the form of numerous posters in the Paris metro and several French cities.

New Technological Advances

Our recent projects add greatly to the already unique character of PlanetHoster’s tools. In the case of N0C in particular, users are noticing as it evolves that the platform is becoming very different from what they have known up to now.

New technological advances from PlanetHoster.

Migration From The Legacy cPanel Plan to N0C

As we mentioned in previous blogs, we encourage our customers to migrate from cPanel to N0C free of charge. The fact that cPanel is reaching end of life justifies this recommendation.

cPanel is being replaced by PlanetHoster.

Currently, there are very few customers on servers in Canada and France who have not yet migrated.

HybridCloud N0C

Welcome to a new era of hosting with PlanetHoster!

Our customers who have a HybridCloud server have recently taken delivery of a HybridCloud N0C dedicated server, the latest innovation from PlanetHoster. This cutting-edge solution represents our ongoing commitment to providing state-of-the-art hosting services. Services that not only meet our customers’ expectations, but exceed them.

We are confident that you will appreciate the many features of the HybridCloud N0C offer. The detailed comparison below provides a clearer picture of the exclusive benefits you can enjoy compared to our previous HybridCloud cPanel solution.

1. Advanced backup system:

  • HybridCloud cPanel :
    a) export of a random archive to a remote backup system;
    b) requires twice the disk space.

  • HybridCloud cPanel: public RPM with WHM/cPanel;
  • HybridCloud N0C: PlanetHoster RPM tested in staging with N0C control panel.

10. Access to infrastructure:

  • HybridCloud cPanel: cPanel team;
  • HybridCloud N0C: limited to the PlanetHoster team with the possibility of level restrictions.

This information shows how hard we work to optimise and secure the hosting experience we offer our customers. We remain at their disposal for any questions or additional needs regarding their new HybridCloud N0C server.

Deployment of PostgreSQL in N0C

PlanetHoster is committed to enabling users to take advantage of the latest improvements in performance, security and database management. That is why we have decided to gradually deploy PostgreSQL v16 on The World NOC shared hosting and HybridCloud NOC dedicated servers.

The interface looks like this:

Accessibility Plan

In preparing the preliminary accessibility plan available at https://www.planethoster.ca/en/accessibility-plan, PlanetHoster was guided by the principles set out in section 6 of the Accessible Canada Act. Here is an overview:

  • everyone must be treated with dignity, regardless of their disability;
  • everyone must have the same opportunity to pursue the life they want and can achieve, regardless of their disabilities;
  • everyone must have barrier-free access to full and equal participation in society, regardless of their disabilities;
  • everyone must have meaningful options and be free to make their own choices, with support if they want it, regardless of their disabilities.

Without saying that these are just wishful thinking, some principles remain extremely difficult to achieve in a world driven by performance and efficiency at work. If we cannot comply with them perfectly, we can at least put mechanisms in place to continuously improve as a society.

Progress On The Accessibility Plan

Canadian law requires the publication of a report on progress towards the objectives to be achieved. We published ours at the beginning of June.1 It is available in PDF format by clicking on this link: ACA, Progress Report, PlanetHoster, 2025-06-01, Version 1.

Our plan will enable us to make significant progress in our ongoing commitment to improve the accessibility of products, services, employment practices, built environment, information and communications technology (ICT), procurement and non-ICT means of communication.

We are at the beginning of the project to implement the required practices. When the project is complete, an ongoing program will become effective and compliant with expectations.

Important

We have just created an accessibility questionnaire to identify any gaps that need to be addressed. We encourage you to fill it out. The questionnaire is available via Google Form at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0_d2LxSkxplDcaKa27mYaLVykKD37OGZBa2CzsowN6xKMuw/viewform.
Please note that the questionnaire is in French, but it will be translated in English shortly.

We encourage you to provide feedback to PlanetHoster. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact the author of this document (Louis Roy is responsible for the accessibility program at PlanetHoster) by one of the following means:

Telephone is another option, but it is not recommended: 514-802-1644, ext. 3944.

Press Releases For High-Value Domain Names

We invite customers who have an important domain name and would like to gain visibility in the media to send an email to media@planethoster.info.

N0C Storage Billing

Since July, N0C Storage has been billed to customers. We thought it would be a good idea to include a reminder here about how billing works:

  • 1 GB = 0.04 €/month.
  • Customers having a The World account receive 100 GB.
  • Customers having an active HC N0C receive 200 GB per active HC N0C.
  • During the month, the consumption of the buckets is synchronised at random, and the maximum value reached is retained.
  • When the invoice is paid, the consumption (in GB) is reset to 0.

If a customer has a The World with 25 accounts, the total storage consumption is 236 GB during the month.

The World plan includes 100 GB.

CurrencyBilling
Euro(236 GB – 100 GB) × 0,04 € = 5,44 €
Canadian dollar(236 GB – 100 GB) × 0,066 CA = 8,98 CAD
US dollar(236 GB – 100 GB) × 0,0484 USD = 6,58 USD

Participation In International Events

As the second quarter of 2025 draws to a close, PlanetHoster has already participated in several events that have raised its profile on the international stage. Here is a look back at these events.

Events in France

Entre Rhône et Saône (Between the Rhône and Saône)

All over the world, life has been organised around waterways for centuries. The city of Lyon is no exception: in ancient times, during the Roman conquest (when the capital of Gaul was known as Lugdunum), the Rhône and Saône rivers already flowed along its banks.

Nowadays, for three days and evenings, the city of Lyon beats to the rhythm of the Festival entre Rhône et Saône, reflecting the city’s ecosystem of associations, the creativity of its cultural and socio-cultural players, and the support of local businesses. This year, the festival took place from 27 to 29 June, and the people of Lyon were able to enjoy sports, entertainment, workshops, walks, conferences, exhibitions, concerts and shows.

PlanetHoster, web host of Entre Rhône et Saône.

As the web host for this event, PlanetHoster has helped to ensure its compliance with best practices in eco-friendly web design. It should be noted that PlanetHoster has been continuously striving to reduce its carbon footprint since 2009. By embracing an evolving vision of more efficient, secure and environmentally friendly hosting, PlanetHoster ensures that the site is hosted in France, while ensuring that 100 % of the electricity used comes from renewable energy sources.

Events in Switzerland

Symposium de la donnée (Data Symposium)

The Symposium de la donnée (Data Symposium 2025) has earned its reputation as one of the must-attend events in cyber defence. This time, the city of Martigny in Switzerland hosted the event.

Such events, when well organised as they were by Groupe Mutuel, Trust Valley and its partners, have the advantage of attracting many speakers and panellists. Participants were able to gain a broad overview of the latest developments in cyber defence. Our participation will undoubtedly help us in our efforts to develop cyber defence services for large companies and government organisations.

Mr. Benoît Vuignier recently shared his enthusiasm on LinkedIn. Here is a translation of what he wrote: “Alongside Mina SHENOUDA, CEO of PlanetHoster, we had the opportunity to meet many interesting people! It just goes to show that Canadian and Swiss players all stand to gain from organising this type of event, which provides a rich opportunity to exchange best practices!

Events in Canada

RDV e-Commerce Conference

RDV e/Commerce supported by PlanetHoster.

We have just renewed our commitment to financially support this conference for the next four RDV e-Commerce events.

The next conference will be held on 21 October 2025 at the ITHQ. We encourage retailers to register for free by filling out the registration form.

An Update On Our Current Projects

WHMCS

Our customers who use WHMCS as their reseller and domain management system know that we provide an extension module that allows them to connect their billing system directly to PlanetHoster.2

However, the Reseller API has recently been revised and simplified. This will allow us to modify the WHMCS plugin to better meet their needs.

Tool For Dividing An Account Into Multiple Sub-Accounts

We currently have a tool in beta testing that allows accounts to be divided into multiple N0C sub-accounts. These tests show that the tool is working well, so we expect to be able to roll it out into production shortly.

Francisation Program With The Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF)

Since 1 June 2025, the Quebec government has had specific expectations that companies must legally comply with regarding the use of French in the workplace. One of these requirements is that French must predominate over English in signage.

As part of our francisation program, after the actions following the OQLF audit in 2024 were quickly completed, two more complicated issues remained to be resolved in order to meet their requirements. The sign on the front of our offices only contained the English words “PlanetHoster.” In addition, our parking signs did not give the language of Molière the place it deserves in Quebec.

We are sharing our corrective approach here — approved by the OQLF — in the hope that it will help other companies avoid costly expenses.

  1. We have simply removed the sign from the front of our building. Very soon, after taking the time to shop around for a supplier, we will install a new sign, whose design, approved by the Quebec government, will be more attractive and modern.
  2. Rather than replacing the parking signs, which would be a costly measure, we have affixed weather-resistant labels with the French word STATIONNEMENT (PARKING) prominently displayed above PlanetHoster in small print.

Both measures have the advantage of demonstrating our commitment to complying with the law. They will automatically speed up the process of obtaining the French language certification, although the OQLF has warned us that this may take some time.

Upgrade To PlanetHoster Version 2

Our development team is currently working on a brand new interface for shopping carts. The design of this overhaul will be in line with the V2 standard. We will also take this opportunity to improve the presentation of our promotions so that users can see them easily and in real time.

Here is one of our prototypes, which we are presenting as a preview, even though the promotions are fictitious:

Prototype of PlanetHoster's new interface for shopping carts.

PlanetHoster’s VPN will eventually also be upgraded to version 2 (VPN V2).

Reactivation Of Domains Included For Certain TLDs

We would like to inform you that as of 1 September 2025, the .com, .net and .org extensions will no longer be included free of charge with our web hosting offers. Here is why this decision will benefit you.

At PlanetHoster, we are committed to providing you with reliable services at transparent and sustainable prices. However, some domain managers apply regular price increases. For example, the price of the .com extension will increase by 1 USD per year for the next nine years.

We have decided to no longer include these extensions among the domains we offer in order to maintain the stability of our hosting prices. This means that customers will not be affected by these price increases.

However, between now and 1 September 2025, customers have the option to renew their web hosting package for several years (up to 5 years). This will allow them to extend their free .com, .net or .org domain name for the same period at no additional cost. Our customer satisfaction team remains available to assist them during this transition period.

Miscellaneous News

Here are a few initiatives that are part of our roadmap. We look forward to sharing the results with you, as we know you will find them interesting.

  • Copying a WordPress site to another The World account will soon be available to customers.
  • We are continuing to focus on fixing the most critical bugs that have been reported.
  • The Moodle learning management system should eventually be available in the MG panel.
  • With a view to allowing our customers to host their own customers (reseller plan), it will be possible to specify dedicated disk space when creating an account (this is planned for this summer).

Continuous Improvement Is Part Of Our DNA

No one is perfect. Recognising this is already a giant step towards the pursuit of excellence.

We encourage the discovery of vulnerabilities on our systems. Please feel free to visit PlanetHoster’s Hall of Fame: https://bugcrowd.com/engagements/planethosterinc/hall_of_fames.

We would like to remind you that we are aware of how crucial it is to satisfy our customers, whose needs are constantly changing, and we encourage them to give their opinions and submit their ideas for new features via the link https://features.planethoster.com.

Knowledge Bases, The “Unsung Heroes”

In life, we often do not realise that our best allies are right by our side. This is exactly what happens with knowledge bases.

Let us imagine the scenario. You are using an important application for work. When faced with a problem that needs to be solved immediately, your first instinct is not to consult the online help: calling the technical support of the company that developed the application is more tempting. Honestly, are we not all a bit like that?

It is often the same with My and the MG (N0C) panel: PlanetHoster’s technical support is often called upon for very simple things. Far be it from us to tell our customers not to consult us, on the contrary. Rather, we hope to raise awareness that, although our company is known for its fast service, everyone would save time and be more efficient if they consulted the PlanetHoster knowledge base before reaching for the phone.

However, we were surprised to discover that many customers do not know how to use it. Even more surprising, some are simply unaware of its existence. Upon further analysis, customer support pointed out that the interface is not intuitive for finding them3.

Let us try to clarify things a bit.

Two Knowledge Bases

The first thing to know is that PlanetHoster provides two separate knowledge bases:

Keeping in mind that our goal is to help our customers use our tools as easily as possible, we keep the knowledge bases as up to date as possible, in line with recent technological advances. Furthermore, with a view to continuous improvement, we are committed to making them easier and easier to consult. After all, even our customer support team refer to them frequently!

A Few Words About The Member Area Knowledge Base

We invite you to watch this short video about the My knowledge base. Although a little facelift is in the works (adding the Support Overview category, new icons, etc.), the essentials are there. It is just over three minutes of your time, and it is well worth it…

What about the N0C knowledge base?

A picture is worth a thousand words…

Access to the N0C knowledge base.

Just like the member area, the N0C knowledge base follows the structure of the interface:

Structure of N0C knowledge base.

‘i’ For “Information”

N0C offers a very elegant feature, namely contextual help symbolized by the icon See the documentation, represented by the letter ‘i’. Clicking on it takes you to the article dealing with the interface displayed on the screen:
